1-new case of COVID-19 in the Timmins area

A new case of COVID-19 has been declared in the Porcupine Health Unit region. It’s at Extendicare Timmins. In a letter to families, the administration says a staff member tested positive, although was asymptomatic and is now in isolation at home.
 

Bomb threat proves false at the NBRHC

The North Bay Regional Health Centre says it did, in fact, receive a bomb threat yesterday. Prompting a call to local police who investigated. Officers worked closely with hospital staff to search the building and ensure the safety of the hospital community and the security of the facility. In the end, no bomb of any sort was found at the hospital.
 

It’s cold this morning… heads up!

If you thought it was a little nippy out this morning, you’re not alone. A Frost Advisory was in effect for Timmins – Cochrane & Iroquois Falls along with North Bay and area. It has since lifted. Many areas this morning started the day in the single digits.
 

Campus housing at Sault College & Algoma U down this year

Campus housing at Sault College and Algoma University will welcome far fewer students in September due to social distancing. While Sault College says its “Ray Lawson Hall” can accommodate about 150 students, but there will only be about 35 moving in this fall. Each student will be housed in a single room with accompanying washroom.
 

One Person Killed in Highway 17 accident

One person has succumbed to injures after a vehicle went off the highway Tuesday afternoon on Highway 17 west of Espanola. Manitoulin OPP said officers responded around 4:50 p.m. to the single-vehicle collision, which occurred in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township. The driver sustained minor injuries, as did another person, police said. Two others sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were all transported to the hospital.
 

Another Walk-in Clinic opens in Sault Ste Marie

In response to wait times at Sault Area Hospital’s ER department, a new walk-clinic opened. The clinic is located at the IDA Drug Mart in Wellington Square Mall. This is the second walk-in clinic to open in Sault Ste Marie’s east end, with the first having opened in back in May.

Blue Kayak Stolen in North Bay

A blue “Dagger” Kayak has been allegedly stolen today in North Bay. Details are few, but the boat has a number of stickers on it, a few are Netherlands Flag, and from Harley Davidson.
 

Dome yet to be named in Greater Sudbury

The multi-sport bubble dome on Lasalle Boulevard, will not be named for after Fabio Belli. This comes after it announced it was taking over full funding and operation of the facility. The Rainbow board also said it will cover the costs of maintaining the over $4 million dollar facility. The name of the dome has yet to be determined.
