Get your shovel out – snow on the way!

Significant snowfall is expected today in North Bay and Sudbury. This is as a result of a strengthening low-pressure system expected to move through eastern Ontario into Quebec. In North Bay, 20 to 30 cm are possible, in greater Sudbury 10 to 15 centimetres are expected before the snow tapers off tomorrow.
 

Soo Police looking into the theft of $700

Sault Ste Marie Police are looking into a theft. This is after a customer accidentally left behind an envelope at a local convenient store, containing $700 cash. The unknown male suspect paid for his order before picking up the envelope. Witnesses say the man had a red hoodie and an orange ball cap.
 

Garbage day notifications heading out to Sudbury residents

Roughly 13,000 Greater Sudbury residents can expect mail from the city in the coming days. The city will be moving to every-other-week garbage collection in 2021. The notice residents will be receiving will indicate their current collection day of the week and the day it will change to beginning in February.
 

Police looking for witnesses and driver following a collision

Police are looking for witnesses and a driver in a collision Sunday near the intersection of John Street and St. Georges Avenue West. The collision, involving a white four-door Toyota Corolla and gold or tan coloured Chevrolet sedan. The driver and passenger in the Toyota were later transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The man in the Chevrolet is described as being in his late 20s or early 30s, Caucasian with a shaved head.
 

Cochrane EMS getting provincial funding for seniors program

And Cochrane EMS will be getting new funding from the Province. One of five communities to see $5 million to launch the Community Paramedicine for Long-Term Care program. This fully provincially funded program will help eligible seniors on the long-term care waitlists stay safely in the comfort of their own homes and communities for longer and will be operated in partnership with the five municipalities.
 

Drivers no longer able to park on Sudbury city streets

The winter parking ban is now in effect. It goes through til’ March 31. During this time, parking is not permitted on any roadway, highway, laneway, or side street within the city, between midnight and 7 a.m.
