Another person passes away due to COVID-19 in Greater Sudbury

A 13th person has passed away due to COVID-19 in Greater Sudbury. Public Health Sudbury and Districts made the announcement late yesterday. The individual was linked to the outbreak at Health Sciences North No further information is being released. The health unit announced 5-new cases of the Corona Virus yesterday.
 

One-new case of COVID-19 at St. Theresa Catholic School

A member of St. Theresa Catholic School in Callander has tested positive for COVID-19.
The health unit says “Through case management and contact tracing, it was determined that there is no risk to the school community, as the individual was not on premises during their infectious period” The individual and all household members are currently self-isolating.
 

New doses of vaccine coming to Algoma District

More doses of COVID-19 vaccines are expected to arrive in the Algoma District this week and next week. Algoma Public Health says the shipment of vaccines over the next two weeks will mean long-term care health staff and essential caregivers along with the highest priority health care workers.
 

Sault College’s aviation program preparing for take-off for 2021-2022

Sault College’s aviation program is expanding and preparing for take off into the 2021-22 academic year. This comes as seven airport control towers across Canada – including the one in Sault Ste. Marie is reviewed by Nav Canada. Due to COVID flight restrictions, Sault College suspended enrolment of first year aviation students for the 2020-21 school year.
 

Missing Teenager: 16-year-old Kaitana Biron

Sault Ste. Marie teenager is missing. Kaitana Biron, is 16-years-old. She was last seen Monday in the 100 block of Queensgate Boulevard. Kaitana is described as five-foot-three, with a thin build, brown hair and brown eyes. Biron is known to frequent the downtown area.
 

One new case, one recovery in NBPSD

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit reported one new case of COVID-19 Thursday and one resolved. The new case involves a person, 19 years of age or younger, in Nipissing District whose exposure to COVID-19 is under investigation.

PHU announced 6-new cases of COVID-19

Six new COVID-19 cases have been reported by the Porcupine Health Unit. They are all North of Timmins in the area of Moose Factory, Moosonee, Hearst and Hornepayne.
