A potential COVID-19 exposure advisory linked to Timmins flight

A potential COVID-19 exposure advisory has been issued for a flight into Timmins. The health unit says its pertains Air Canada (flight AC0144) at 12:15 p.m. from Calgary to Toronto, especially seated in rows 14 to 18. The passengers in these rows must self-isolate immediately and call their local public health unit. And then, (Air Canada, flight AC8289) from Toronto to Timmins at 6:55 p.m. from Toronto to Timmins, especially those seated in rows 8 to 12. The passengers in these rows must self-isolate immediately and call their local public health unit. Other travellers are asked to self-monitor.
 

More cases of COVID-19 in the North East

The Algoma Public Health has confirmed two new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region. Of the new cases, one is in the Sault Ste. Marie area with the other being from central and east Algoma. Elsewhere, the Timiskaming Health Unit reports two active cases, while the The Sudbury Health Unit reports 242 active cases with 25 new ones today.
Meanwhile,
Health Sciences North is releasing more information regarding the hospital’s third outbreak of COVID-19. Four patients have tested positive for COVID-19. The outbreak was declared Tuesday night on the seventh floor of the North Tower at the Ramsey Lake Health Centre. The facility remains open with clinics and procedures continuing.
 

All cases of COVID-19 resolved at Lancelot Apartments

The North Bay Parry sound district Health unit says all the COVID cases associated with the outbreak at Lancelot Apartments have now been resolved and there are now no active cases. In total the outbreak involved 45 cases.
 

LU president speaks on Universities efforts

Laurentian University president Robert Haché has indicated just how critical current measures are with the University. In short, he says if mediation with the Senate and other interested parties is not successful, and restructuring plans are not approved, the university will “cease to function as of April 30.” The university revealed Feb. 1 it is insolvent and had applied for restructuring under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA). The deadline for their current efforts is April 30th.
 

Snow levels continue to drop along the watershed

Snow conditions continue to be below normal for the Upper Mattagami Watershed. This is according to the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority. Along with the low snow depth, the water content variances are 43 to 90 per cent below normal. The reports are sent out twice a month until the snow cover is gone.
 

2021 ELRL grant application process open

Elliot Lake Retirement Living is announcing they are now accepting applications for the 2021 ELRL Community Grant. The intent is to invest in activities, programs, projects and individuals looking to make Elliot Lake a better place to put down roots. Almost $40,000 was given out to local organizations last year.
