Outbreak of COVID-19 in Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory.

An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared on Manitoulin Island. It’s in Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory. The release said additional positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in Wiikemkoong, and as a result, the outbreak was declared by the WUT Pandemic Team. An outbreak is declared when there are two or more confirmed cases and that they are in more than one cluster.
 

United Steelworkers 6500 back to work on Monday

United Steelworkers Local 6500 will be heading back to work Monday. This is after they voted to ratify a new five-year collective bargaining agreement with Vale on Tuesday evening. Production is ramping up in the coming weeks.
 

25 cats and kittens looking for homes

The Sudbury branch of the Ontario SPCA is reaching out to the public following an infuse of cats. What started as a food and supplies delivery to the Dryden area, resulted in roughly 25 coming in from the Second Chance Pet Network. The cats and kittens are looking for new homes.
 

Timmins Police looking for a break and enter suspect

Timmins Police are looking to identify the female suspect wanted for a vehicle break-in. It happened outside of a Sixth Avenue residence. The rear passenger side window was shattered to gain entry into the vehicle. The suspect then stole an assortment of hand tools and a set of booster cables from the vehicle.
 

Domtar sold to a BC paper company

Domtar stockholders have approved the sale of the Montreal and South Carolina-based pulp and paper giant. It’s being sold to a Richmond, B.C. company. In a virtual meeting, Domtar shareholders voted more than 81 percent to accept the sale of common stock to Paper Excellence in an all-cash deal worth $3.77 billion.

Truck driver responsible for rollover charged with careless driving

The 30-year-old truck driver that rolled a vehicle loaded with piglets Monday morning near Mattawa has been charged with careless driving. If convicted it carries a fine of $490 and six demerit points. The accident sent enabled a number of piglets to get out. At last report, some are still missing.

Sault Ste Marie Police are hoping to identify a suspect wanted for theft and fraud. This is after a lost wallet was picked up, and the cards inside used to complete bank transactions amounting to $5,000 were made. The wallet also contained $650 in cash. Further details are on our webpage.
