Slow down in school zones say Police

North Bay Police say several charges have been laid as a part of the city police back-to-school safety initiative. Among them, six people were charged under the Highway Traffic Act on the first day, including five for speeding. Constable David Wooley spoke to KFM news, reminding drivers to pack a little extra time before they back out of the driveway.

 

Sudbury Police say K9 unit used to track suspect, now in custody

Greater Sudbury Police employed a K9 track unit in the area of Falconbridge Road and Angeline Street yesterday… in their tracking of an individual. Police requested that the public stay out the area until the track is complete. A 32-year-old wanted individual is now in custody.
 

Wooden Boardwalk in North Bay getting a facelift

The wooden boardwalk along the waterfront marina in North Bay is getting a facelift. It’s all part of a redevelopment project involving the removal of damaged and rotting wooden boards. Replacement of the pathway light electrical line and rehabilitation of the flower beds between the boardwalk and the lake will also take place.
 

Voter cards showing up for September 20th

Timmins voters should be getting their voter card today, for the Federal Election, now just 11 days out. That said, if they don’t, residents are asked not to ball City Hall or Service Timmins. Apparently, calls have already come in about registering to vote. Residents are being redirected to the Elections Canada office at the 101 Mall.
 

New security system in place for Sudbury Church

The Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto in Greater Sudbury is taking action to prevent vandalism. This is all thanks to a new security system in place thanks to a local company who did the work at a reduced cost. In 2020, five statues on the property were damaged due to mischief.
